Cute Cats & Censorship

Cute cats and censorship
Ethan Zuckerman writes that one way to better protect human rights’ activists content online is by making sure their content is on the same platform/site as the Cute Cats of the Internet.

Internet Users are far more likely to get pissed off with their government — or also figure out how to use anti-censorship circumvention tools — if they are blocked from seeing that cat they heard about, or a dancing hamster, or pick your meme of the day. If these banal things are blocked, then the 99 percent of users will get invested in Internet Rights — to the benefit of the activists in that country.
