Stakeholder mapping the traffic ticket system

For a systems + design thinking workshop that I’m coaching at Stanford d.school this week, I’ve been creating some visuals to help catch participants up with the system of traffic tickets and safety on the streets.

I’ve found a stakeholder map to be a very effective and simple way to sum up who’s who in a certain challenge zone, and to think more systematically about relationships and influence (as well as opportunities for change).

You included it by inference with the Mayor’s office/legislature but many traffic citation systems have direct reporting responsibility for depositing money to the state treasurer and/or city finance departments.

Also, you have missed US Department of Transportation Commercial Motor Vehicle reporting. They receive reports not only when a commercial license holder violates in their truck but also if say they receive a DUI or similar serious violation in their private vehicle.
